Expressive Arts Therapy

Expressive Arts Therapy is an approach to exploring, deepening, visualizing and understanding parts of ourselves that are often hidden or clouded beneath our thoughts, our behaviors and our actions.

So much of our lives is spent coping with or dealing with the "stuff of life" that our more expressive, creative and intuitive connection to life and self go untended. Life becomes a struggle, something to "get through" instead of a freer, authentic, genuine experience.

The expressive arts categories include visual, intuitive, language, movement and performing.

In my practice, depending upon an individual’s interest and willingness to explore, I tend to emphasize the visual, language and intuitive art forms in addition to utilizing the standard, practical or skill based therapeutic interventions.
